How does it work?

Homeopathic medicines work by stimulating the body’s own healing abilities.

It is based on the principle ‘like cures like’ formulated by Hippocrates which works on the premise that a substance which can cause symptoms of ill health in a healthy person can, in very dilute doses, cure an ill person with those same symptoms.

For example, in a healthy person, large amounts of coffee may cause insomnia. But when prepared as a homeopathic medicine (highly diluted), coffee is used to treat insomnia.

Another example is the Homeopathic remedy
Allium Cepa. This is used for common colds and hayfever where symptoms are a runny nose and watery, burning eyes. Allium Cepa is made from red onion.

What happens during a consultation?

An initial consultation can last up to an hour and a half. During this time I will take the time to listen to your present symptoms as well as try and get a picture of you as a person. To enable me to do this, I will ask questions to find out about your personality, likes and dislikes, habits, lifestyle, family history, past medical history and so on. You will be able to tell me in complete confidence about any significant events in your life and how they affected you and also anything that stresses or worries you.

After the consultation I will work on the information you have given me. There are thousands of different remedies (homeopathic medicines) and I need to select the one that most closely matches your symptoms. I will then post the carefully selected remedy out to you.

By tackling the root causes of your dis-ease I will aim to bring about long lasting improvements to your health and attempt to restore the best possible level of physical and emotional wellbeing.

Follow up consultations are usually
4 – 6 weeks after the initial consultation.
